For cookie lovers on holiday, Byron Bay Cookie Company is an absolute must-try. Born in Byron Bay and now beloved across Australia, this local favourite started with a passion for big, soft, flavour-packed cookies made from simple, quality ingredients — real butter, golden syrup, Australian flour and chocolate chunks that melt in your mouth.

Today they’re famous for freshly baked cookies in classic and seasonal flavours, a fun pick-and-mix jar-fill experience, and delightful gifts and boxes perfect for sharing (or keeping!). Their products are made in Byron Bay and stocked in cafés, boutique stores and gift shops around the region, so you can grab a sweet treat after beach walks or while exploring town.

Whether you choose rich chocolate chunk, macadamia white chocolate or double choc yum, these cookies are a delicious, locally inspired indulgence that perfectly complements your Byron Bay getaway.

BALCONY BAR

For the seafood lovers, you must check out this Oyster Bar restaurant. Exceptional tapas and seasonal fare, the atmosphere here makes you never want to leave. And then there’s the cocktails! They do happy hour and oyster hour, they do breakfast on weekends with bottomless Bellini’s . They are child friendly too, so bring the babes along and make the most of your holiday. Located in the heart of town, Balcony Bar is open Monday to Friday 12pm – 12am and weekends from 9am – 12pm. THE MEZ CLUB

Ahhhh The Mez Club, so many delicious memories. This Mediterranean cantina and bar absolutely excel at what they do. Located on Jonson Street in town, The Mez Club is predominantly a casual ‘walk in’ venue with a variety of seating zones and styles. There is no need to book, just turn up Byron style and go from there! If there is a wait list for dining tables you can enjoy a drink while you wait in one of the bar areas. The host will help when you arrive. If you do wish to have the security of booking a table during the week (out of peak season) please email them on hello@mezclub.com.au. Friday and Saturday bookings are typically limited to larger groups (10 or more, please see below) which are in The Souk (our upstairs area). Their downstairs area is always ‘walk in only’ so head on down when you are ready (although we do recommend getting in early) and they will get you in as soon as possible. The Mez club is open Tues to Friday from 5pm and Friday to Sunday 12pm till late.

DAUGHTER IN LAW

Everyone has been raving about the restaurant since the launch and it is definitely a ‘must visit’ when visiting Byron Bay. This is not your typical Indian joint. Singh has been mastering the art of what he calls “unauthentic Indian” food for many years now; and is blending the flavours he grew up on with local Northern Rivers ingredients, and new cooking techniques. The menu at Daughter in Law Byron is more coastal style “unauthentic Indian” and it’s important to note that this is a very different Indian restaurant that’s ambitious and playful, and encapsulates the Byron Bay lifestyle with an emphasis on seafood, vegan and gluten-free fare.
